Our Initiatives
The Bath Finance Society places strong emphasis on innovation, and in 2025/26 we are pleased to be introducing two new initiatives that will further enhance the opportunities and experiences available to our members. At BFS, each year builds on the last, and we are committed to ensuring that every new cycle of the society offers more than the one before.
Analyst Programme
Our Analyst Programme is designed to give students hands-on exposure to the world of finance while contributing directly to the society’s initiatives.
Analysts work in small teams within our divisions: Investment Banking, Private Equity, and Asset Management where they gain experience in financial modelling, valuation, market research, and report writing. Alongside this technical training, analysts support the delivery of BFS events, from speaker sessions to workshops, building both professional and organisational skills. The programme also provides mentorship from senior committee members and alumni, ensuring participants leave with stronger technical ability, commercial awareness, and practical experience to support their career ambitions.
MCD UK Investment Competition
This year, Bath Finance Society is excited to be taking part in the MCD UK Investment Competition, the largest student-led finance challenge in the country.
Over the course of eight weeks, students will work in teams to build and track their own investment portfolios, attend weekly industry-led workshops, and compete for a place in the national finals in London. The top-performing teams will have the chance to present to a panel of industry judges and even secure internship opportunities with leading financial institutions.
